PRECISION-ECS: predicting cannabinoid response in melanoma

Our first program applies the EndoVia platform to cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system in melanoma.

Why cannabinoids and melanoma

Cannabinoids show strong and broad anticancer activity in preclinical research, yet clinical translation remains inconsistent. Responses vary widely between tumors, and the biology behind that variation is poorly understood. Melanoma combines high molecular diversity with an active endocannabinoid system, which makes it a strong first test for response prediction.

What the program does

  • Tests cannabinoids and formulations across a panel of molecularly diverse melanoma models
  • Measures functional response, signaling and molecular profiles
  • Builds and calibrates predictive response models for each tumor model
  • Tests model predictions in new experiments and on models not used to build them
  • Defines biomarker hypotheses and responder groups for further development

Where the program stands

Foundations

Research, IP and functional data

Our work builds on academic research, an IP foundation and growing experimental response datasets.

In development

Models and experimental validation

We are integrating functional and molecular data to develop response models and investigate their performance in relevant experimental systems.

Next

Stronger evidence for translation

The next stage is to evaluate predictive performance and reproducibility, then establish what further evidence is needed before clinical use.

A prediction needs a meaningful test.

Relevant experimental models

Does the experimental setting represent the biological variation the model is intended to explain?

Measured response

How closely do predictions correspond to observed sensitivity and resistance?

Reproducibility

Can the findings be reproduced beyond the data used to develop the model?

Translational relevance

What additional evidence would be needed to support decisions in a clinical setting?
